Bass Prefer Big Meals

Largemouth bass can eat another bass 50 percent of their body length.  Imagine a 20-inch bass eating another 10-inches long.  Those feeding habits develop at an early age.  When stocking fingerlings in the spring, we’ve seen a three-inch bass with a slightly smaller cousin in his mouth.  There’s no way to consume it, but the attempt demonstrates a bass’ ferocious predator instincts.  Bass prefer big meals, not chasing small baitfish and wasting energy that could be converted to growth.
